Although the effect of EVA in rheumatoid arthritis has not been explored as such, investigations by University of Alberta researchers and relevant work on
the role of GAG, omega3 fatty acids and prostaglandins offer a possible explanation for the anecdotal effects that have been reported. Active GAG has been extracted from EVA, and researchers at the University of Alberta have demonstrated that this extracted GAG has growth promoting effects on cells and anti-inflammatory properties. Omega3 fatty acids and prostaglandins are also reputed to have anti-inflammatory effects. Thus, there is evidence to suggest that EVA contains active ingredients that may have therapeutic effects in rheumatoid arthritis.
